Project Description
Euthenics performed routine and fracture critical inspections of the Akron North Main Street (High Level) Bridge over the Cuyahoga River from 2017 through 2020. The 900-foot cantilevered Pratt deck truss structure consists of two 210-foot anchor spans and one 480-foot main span. All fracture critical members were inspected at arm’s reach and routine inspections completed for non-fracture critical members. Field measurements of gusset plates and floor beams were taken to determine section loss and prepare the condition and recommendation reports. Inspection Reports were prepared with future structure type design alternatives and submitted to Summit County for use in planning to replace the bridge. The inspection process utilized a snooper truck, ladders and climbing equipment with fall protection.
