Mr. Al Piatak joined Euthenics as a Design Engineer after graduating from college. He has worked on many facets of civil engineering design including hydrologic and hydraulic studies, FEMA floodplain studies, horizontal and vertical geometric design for roadway improvement projects ranging from local streets to interstate interchanges, storm water conveyance systems, sanitary sewer, force main and pump station design, bridge and culvert inspection, landslide repairs, traffic signal design and traffic analysis, commercial and residential site development, field survey, and right-of-way plan development. Mr. Piatak was elected to the Board of Directors of Euthenics, served as Vice President, and now is Company President!

Professional Bio

Mr. Ed Piatak is a client-focused professional in the civil engineering transportation field including municipal engineering, roadway design, land development, storm and sanitary sewer design, water line design, and construction administration and project management. He has prepared construction bid documents, estimated construction costs, managed bidding processes, and negotiated engineering contracts for roadway, water and sewer improvement projects for local government agencies. He often works with architects, engineers, landscape architects, surveyors, property owners and developers, utilities and various governmental agencies, planning commissions, zoning boards, technical advisory committees, city councils and elected officials. Ed serves on Euthenics’ Board of Directors as Vice President and Treasurer.

Mr. Dan Bender is a project manager with experience in general civil and transportation engineering. He has designed and managed projects for the Ohio Department of Transportation, the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission, and several local government agencies. His work includes design of horizontal and vertical alignments, maintenance-of-traffic plans, storm sewer design and stormwater management, water work, and sanitary sewer design. Dan oversees transportation projects in municipalities and represents Euthenics. He serves on the Board of Directors and is Vice President.

Mrs. Ashley Wright joined Euthenics after graduating from college with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis on traffic operations. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio and a certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer. Ashley has experience in complex roadway design, modeling and analyzing traffic data, and preparing reports. Her portfolio includes safety improvement designs, interchange studies, capacity analysis, traffic signal design and optimization for intersections, as well as traffic impact, speed, and safety studies. Ashley is a graduate of the American Society of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Ohio Rising Leader Program and serves on the Euthenics Board of Directors as Vice President.

Mr. Brandon Sopko is a client-focused engineering professional with experience in the transportation field specializing in structures including bridge design, rehabilitation, load rating, and inspection. He is proficient in reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, post-tensioned concrete, and structural steel design and detailing and has completed numerous bridge projects from planning through construction. Brandon is a proven leader with the outstanding ability to collaborate with project teams to produce high quality design work. He was a member of the inaugural class of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Ohio Rising Leader Program and enjoys being a leader in his professional community. Brandon currently serves as the Lead Structures Project Manager for Euthenics.

Professional Bio

Mrs. Mary Ellen Kimberlin worked in a variety of organizations in the field of transportation engineering. She started at ODOT District 11 as an engineering intern. After gaining some design experience, she transferred to District 12 where she was assigned to construction as an assistant engineering intern on a major interstate widening project. She was hired by a construction contractor to be an assistant project manager and surveyor and was promoted to bridge superintendent. She also earned her professional engineering license. After a short time with another contractor, Mary Ellen was hired by Euthenics as a design engineer and was the first person in the company to learn AutoCAD and civil design software. After attaining her professional surveyor’s license, she was recruited by the Summit County Engineer to be the Chief Deputy Engineer. Mary Ellen made the difficult decision to pass up the opportunity to run for elected office and returned to ODOT serving as District Deputy Director for District 3. After leaving ODOT to pursue other business opportunities, Mary Ellen returned to Euthenics focusing on client relationships, business development and fiscal project management.

Mr. Mark Cosgriff is an experienced transportation engineer. He has a strong background in complex roadway design and transportation planning with additional strengths in traffic operations and analysis. His transportation design portfolio consists of geometric design including all components for plan development. Some of his specialties are intersection design, interchange design, stormwater design, lighting design, traffic signal design, capacity analysis, traffic control plans, maintenance of traffic planning, and cost estimating. Mark is proficient with Civil 3D, GEOPAK, Synchro, and Highway Capacity Software (HCS).

Mr. Micah Pilat is a Professional Engineer with his experience focused on structures. His areas of expertise include bridge design, bridge rehabilitation, bridge inspection, bridge load rating, public art structural design, temporary industrial structure design, and construction and demolition support design. He is proficient in designs involving reinforced concrete, structural steel, timber, and prestressed concrete. Micah’s design skill set includes developing solutions using 3D Finite Element Analysis and fashioning one-off design calculations for unique projects. He has led inspections of major iconic and movable bridges in the Greater Cleveland area including the Detroit-Superior Bridge, Lorain-Carnegie Bridge, Lofton Henderson Memorial Bridge, Akron’s North Main High Level Bridge, and various lift bridges over the Cuyahoga River in Downtown Cleveland. Mr. Pilat has extensive experience designing and managing projects from the conceptual stage through construction completion. Micah is committed to the advancement of the structural engineering community by serving in leadership roles in the Association for Bridge Construction and Design and volunteering as a judge for the Summit County Miniature Bridge Building Competition. He currently serves as a Project Manager and member of the Board of Directors for Euthenics.

Mr. Luke Baker is a key member of Euthenics’ professional team in the transportation field with experience in a variety of civil disciplines primarily focused on structural design and inspection. His work includes structural design and detailing; in-depth, fracture critical and routine bridge inspections and load ratings; utility relocation design and coordination; structure hydraulic analyses; developing structural maintenance of traffic schemes; roadway geometric design; boundary survey; construction engineering; and railroad coordination. Luke combines his education, experience, organizational and people skills to foster relationships with clients and complete projects correctly, efficiently and on budget. He held leadership roles in several Northeast Ohio professional associations and technical organizations. Luke currently serves as a Project Manager for Euthenics.

Mr. Neville has over 20 years of experience as a design project engineer and manager for all facets of roadway and drainage design including new and rehabilitation projects of both rural and urban roadways/highways. He has considerable experience with complex geometric design, pavement design, cost estimating, post-construction BMP design, maintenance of traffic design, navigating the PDP, and public and stakeholder involvement. Mr. Neville has performed drainage analyses including culvert and bridge waterway opening sizing, storm sewer capacity and inlet spacing computations, retention/detention design, and post-construction BMP designs for numerous transportation and site development projects. In addition, he has prepared numerous SWP3’s along with the required maintenance inspections for both public and private clients. He has performed annual Post-Construction BMP maintenance inspections and documentation for private clients as required by their municipality.

Mr. Vincent D’Angelo is a professional engineer and has directed, managed and designed projects involving buildings and facilities, utility infrastructure, roads and highways, bridges and culverts, and park and recreational facilities. He has managed all phases of project development from preliminary studies and design through plans, contract documents and construction administration. His experience has included responsible charge of projects in multiple counties and municipalities within Ohio as well as Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, Georgia, and Michigan. Vince is a distinguished leader in the Cleveland engineering community having earned many awards. Vince helps Euthenics with business development.

Mrs. Rickel often says her job is to do what engineers can’t do for themselves. She thrives in this supportive role as Human Resources Manager responsible for all functional areas of HR including employee/labor relations, payroll, compensation, benefits administration, employee training, and policies and procedures. She is also responsible for the company’s financial information and administration including generating client invoices, accounts receivable and payable, posting to the general ledges, bank account reconciliation, preparation of financial statements, preparation of ODOT Overhead submittal, compiling information for various audits and serving as liaison with the company’s accounting firm. Ms. Rickel considers herself lucky to have a position that combines her love of helping and interacting with people, numbers and problem-solving.
