Project Description
As the first phase of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority’s Improvements to the Red Line’s East 79th Street Station, the City of Cleveland retained Euthenics to design the replacement bridge. The existing five-span steel girder structure was replaced with a two-span continuous rolled steel beam bridge. The beam lines follow a dog-legged path to align with the curvature of the road. The challenge with this bridge was maintaining both continuous pedestrian access from the bridge to the Red Line Transit Station and uninterrupted service for the five utilities suspended from the structure throughout the phased construction process. Euthenics accomplished this with proactive communication, coordination with each utility, and construction sequence planning. Communication with the stakeholders was vital to the success of this project.
